Sidnee goes out to eat with Grandpa Dar!!!

Sidnee's first experience at a restaurant was at Chip's in Ankeny on Tuesday November 18, 2008 to help celebrate his Grandapa Dar's 5oth birthday!

Sidnee decided NOT to order off the menu, instead he did what his Grandpa Dar does alot now and that is sleep thru supper.

Prior to supper, I was able to hold Sindee for over 2 hours and that was the BESTEST birthday present that I got!

Another important milestone was Friday November 14, 2008 and that was Sidnee's first trip to Grandpa Dar's house. We had a great time and Sidnee told me that he wanted to come back again VERY soon.

Sidnee Andrew Farmer 11.01.2008 4:15am

Sidnee Andrew Farmer was born on Saturday November 1st, 2008 at 4:15am!!! Mom, Dad, and Son are all doing well!

Sidnee is absolutely adorable, with large hands and feet. Sidnee weighed in at 7lbs 3.9 ounces and 21 inches long.

Lindsay was an absolute trooper as told to me by several nurses and by Andrew! Lindsay and Andrew, we are all very PROUD of you and you two will make wonderful parents.

Sidnee and big brother Andrew Lindsay look alike, both of my grandsons are just adorable and I am the proudest and luckiets Grandpa on Earth!!!

Sidnee is already able to lift his head up after his head is on his Mom's chest, that is absolutely unbelievable to me.

Sidnee has alot of hair, big hands, big feet, big biceps. In the face, Sidnee looks like Lindsay, Andrew, Amie, and Great Grandma Farmer.

Uncle Grant and Tiffany gave Sidnee a pair of Hawkeye socks and Sidnee wore them while watching the Iowa game.

My baby (Lindsay) has another little baby boy and we are all so blessed to see this miracle of life.

May God continue to bless this family as they embark on a wonderful journey together.

Love,

Grandpa Dar

Dar Junior's arrival is getting close!!!

Lindsay had her appointment today and without getting into all the specifics, Dar Junior's arrival is getting pretty close!!!

Looks like Lindsay's recent contractions have been doing some good! When the contractions get to be around 5 minutes apart it will be time for Lindsay and Andrew to go to the hospital.

Just wanted to give you a quick update that I may be busy for the remainder of my life as my 2nd grandson is going to require alot of Grandpa Dar's time!!!

Grandpa Dar fails first test...

On Sunday, Mary and I were doing our annual fall and pre-winter duties as it pertains to getting our yard ready for the upcoming winter months. I started around 10:00 am and was finished around 2:30 pm in the afternoon.

It was a beautiful day outside as Mary and I were getting things ready and Mary was smart enough to have a phone outside just in case we received a phone call. The mistake that was made however was when Mary left me alone for about a half-hour as during that time period Lindsay was trying to call us to tell us she was in the hospital!!!

Lindsay was admitted to the hospital as they thought my grandson was getting ready to come into this world, but it ended up that my grandson was not quite ready to come out yet and Lindsay was released!

Lindsay and Andrew tried to call us to tell us what was going on, but of course could not get ahold of us. I guess the moral of this story is: Grandpa Dar should NEVER be left alone again or he may miss the birth of his second grandson!!!

Needless to say Mary and I now have our phones glued to our sides!!!

Who knows, maybe my grandson will be born on Grandma Mary's birthday this Saturday!!!

A Second Chance...

Everything went well at Lindsay's doctor’s appointment this morning!!!

Last night we went shopping for my grandson with Lindsay and Andrew. There is so much more "neat stuff" that is available for kids now days. I'm going to have to get another job in order to get all the stuff I want my grandson to have because I love it all!!!

I saw a bed that I just have to get my grandson as it had everything, even a perfect spot for Grandpa and Grandson to hang out together and just tell stories and dream about what’s in store for my grandson in the future and how I will tell him to NEVER give up on his dreams and that he can do ANYTHING he sets his sights on.

...but I also got to thinking about how I am being given a "second chance" to hopefully be a better Grandpa than I was a Dad...

The most important goal I had in life was to be the best Dad in the whole wide world, but I know I have fallen short on many occasions and still do.

With age comes wisdom (or so they say) so hopefully I have learned from my mistakes as a parent so I can TRY and be the best Grandpa in the world.

There was so much more I wanted to do with Lindsay and Grant, so much more that I wanted them to experience and to have, so many more walks in the park or camping out under the stars, so many more night time stories to tell, so many more hugs and kisses to give...

Baby Andrew Lindsay opened my eyes to allot of things, but most important he opened my heart ... and maybe now given this "second chance" I can start again and show Lindsay and Grant that there Dad is still trying and has not given up on trying to be the best and maybe for a few years I can fool my Grandson in believing that his Grandpa is an OK dude...

Grandson's room is getting ready for his arrival!!!

Thanks to Grandma Mary for painting our grandson's room, things are really starting to take shape. With the baby crib in the room, a changing table, and of course a few books from good ole Grandpa Dar that will wet his appetite for playing sports, I must say I am feeling really "anxious" for the arrival day!

Lindsay had an appointment today and what we have heard from Andrew all went well as Lindsay was in and out of the Doctor's office really quick.

Lindsay looks absolutely wonderful and the glow they always talk about with Mom's to be, Lindsay has that glow and more. Andrew of course just beams when we are in the baby's room and you can tell he is ready to be a Dad for the second time around.

I can't speak to the specifics of the book as my eyes were tearing up so bad that I could not read it, but there is a book in the baby's crib that is basically from his older brother baby Andrew Lindsay. What a precious book that just touched my heart in such a way and reminded me again that baby Andrew Lindsay will ALWAYS be there for his baby brother...

May God continue to bless this family and continue to hold baby Andrew Lindsay close as we all wait the arrival of another miracle of life.

My Grandson is getting ready to arrive!!!

Grandson #2 is getting ready to arrive into this world so his Grandpa Dar can start spoiling him!

Lindsay had her appointment today and my grandson's head is down which is good as that means he is getting ready to arrive. His tush is on the right side of Lindsay's ribs and he is laying on his side. The nurse indicated that he will probably not move positions much more.

Lindsay and Andrew are to have a two hour time period a day to measure kicks as he is suppose to kick at least 10 times a day. I'm sure my grandson heard the nurse say that and will take that as a challenge and try to break the world record for number of kicks in a two hour time period!!! Who knows, my grandson could maybe be the next great Olympian!

Lindsay will now start going to the Doctor every 2 weeks for 4 times and then she will start going every week.

Lindsay and Andrew are going to be awesome parents and I am so proud of both of them and how they are approaching the upcoming birth of their second son.

May God continue to bless this family and continue to hold baby Andrew Lindsay close as we all wait the arrival of another miracle of life.
